Genting International Moves into UK Online Casino Community

Malaysian gaming giant Genting International is continuing its move into the UK online gaming market with the opening of Circuscasino.com and circuspoker.co.uk. These are the first steps into the online UK gaming world, but it certainly won’t be the corporation’s last.
Genting International, which was founded in 1984, has been recently linked to the potential takeover of major UK land and online bingo company, Rank. With the launch of these two new online casinos, it appears Genting International has figured out a different way to break into the UK online gaming community.
The two online casinos will be run by the subsidiary Genting Stanley Alderney Limited, or GSAL and are using UK based software company, Playtech for their games. Playtech, which was founded in 1999, is a leading software company and has provided software to well known companies GoldenPalace.com, the Rank Groups’ Grosvenor Casino and CentreBet.
Genting International, which is considered to be a resort specialist, has already made quite a mark on the UK gaming community with 46 different clubs around Britain alone. These include the top five most established and prestigious casinos in London: Crockfords Club, The Palm Beach, Maxims Casino, The Colony Club and the Mint. However, this is their first venture into the online casino community.
In a recent interview, the managing director of Genting International, Justin Tan, said, “It is important for us to meet all the needs of our customers, including the growing demand to be able to play online from the comfort of their homes.” Tan also added that venturing into the online gaming world is a “logical and important strategic step” for Genting’s expansion prospects. It has been suggested that the launch of the UK online casinos will provide a basis for potential expansion in the Asian markets.
Circuscasino.com and circuspoker.co.uk will focus on card and table games. With more than 100 casinos offered on the websites, the games range from blackjack and pontoon to roulette, craps and slot machines. Furthermore, the online casinos feature a variety of tournaments and cash poker games with a wide selection of table limits. Anyone from around the world is able to participate in the Play for Fun games; however, for the launch, the Play for Real games will be limited to residents of the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Island.
